Motivational Interviewing
At Rosacle Consultancy Limited we aim to use motivational interviewing at all times.
Motivational interviewing is a counselling method that helps people with their ambivalent feelings and insecurities to find internal motivation. Motivational interviewing is a therapeutic technique used to help individuals make changes in the lives which can be applied effectively to treating people with addiction problems.
Motivational interviewing is based on the following principles;

-
Ambivalence is about change. Support self-efficacy and optimism.
-
Ambivalence can be resolved by working with an individuals intrinsic motivations and values avoiding discrepancy between client’s goals or values and their current behaviour.
-
Alliance between the counsellor and client is a collaborative partnership to which the counsellor brings important expertise. Avoid argument and direct confrontation.
-
An empathic, supportive, yet directive, counselling style provides conditions under which change can occur.
-
Adjust to client resistance rather than opposing it directly.
