Dual Diagnosis Counselling

At Rosacle Consultancy Limited we aim to help individuals who may be suffering from dual diagnosis.
Dual diagnosis is a term used to describe co-existing mental health and alcohol and drug misuse problems.
Dual diagnosis can be split into three types of co-existing mental health and substance misuse problems Zimberg (1999);

Type 1: Primary mental health problem with substance use disorder which becomes apparent only when the person is experiencing mental ill-health symptoms, i.e. the substance is used as a self-medication by the individual to enable them to cope with or obliterate symptoms.
Type 2: Primary substance abuse with substance induced mental health problems. For example the amphetamine user who develops amphetamine psychosis or the cannabis user who develops cannabis psychosis.
Type 3: Mental health and substance misuse problems co-existing in the same individual over a long period of time (considered ‘true’ dual diagnosis).
Block sessions for dual Diagnosis counselling (substance misuse and mental health counselling) can be booked in sessions of 6-12 weeks or flexible sessions depending on the individual’s needs.
